The church at Timberland Dr. conducts Bible classes for all ages. These Bible-based studies help children and adults know more of God's word and what wonderful truths are revealed in it. Because God's word is what we will be judged by, it is important that we have the best understanding of it as we can. These studies are presented with the utmost respect for God's revelation and His authority.
We have classes for infants up to adult. Each class is tailored for its particular age group. For more information about each class, click on the appropriate links in the Bible Class menu at the top of the page.
Everyone is welcomed to join us in Bible study. Feel free to bring your family and study God's word with us!
And Jesus said to them, "Yes. Have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise'?" Matthew 21:16
We have classes for babies who are under 2 years of age. As long as they are old enough to sit up by themselves in a high chair, they are welcome to join in this class designed to introduce them to Biblical concepts.
The class consists of songs that the little ones enjoy with related hands-on materials to help them grasp the subjects of the songs. Children learn to recognize Biblical names and terms through relevant activities; subjects such as creation, God, Jesus, proper conduct during worship, love, sharing, and more.
This class also prepares the children for older classes by giving them opportunity to experience a Bible class atmosphere that they can enjoy while learning important concepts taught in the Bible.
But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 19:14
Our 2-3 year class provides basic Bible instruction to children when they are at an age where learning is exciting. At this age, the children get an overview of the Bible story by being introduced to familiar stories in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. This class lays the foundation for the children to grow in their understanding of God's plan as revealed in the Bible. In addition to Bible stories, the children are instructed on basic godly qualities that even very young people can begin to build into their character.
The teachers of this age put a lot of effort into presenting these lessons in way that help the children grasp and remember the story or subject being studied. The use of hands-on activities, visual aids, and songs help reinforce the concepts in a tangible form and help them retain the information presented.
This class studies the same subjects as the 4-5 year old class. As with all our younger classes, the same lesson is taught on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Below is the current schedule of topics.
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children - Deuteronomy 6:6-7
The 4-5 year old class builds upon the basic Bible instruction given in the younger classes. This class continues to lay the foundation of Biblical knowledge that is needed to understand man's history and God's plan. By studying a broad range of stories from the Old and New Testament, the children get an overview of God's dealing's with man and what qualities and behaviors that God expects from us.
As in all our classes, the lessons are taught in creative ways that help the children enjoy learning and remember the information covered. In addition to story telling, other various teaching methods are used, such as hand-on activities, visual aids, and songs. The children are also introduced to memory verse work by using a very simple verse, or a section of a verse, related to the story they are learning.
This class follows a two year curriculum that gives a broad survey of the main stories in the Old and New Testament. Below is the schedule of lessons for the current quarter.
We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD - Psalm 78:4
Our Kindergarten-2nd grade Bible class tailors its teaching methods to the children in primary grades. As these children are beginning to read and develop more structured study habits, the Biblical instruction provided in this class begin to include reading and written exercises. Also increased memory work is emphasized.
The class studies are based on a four year curriculum named Our Spiritual Heritage. This curriculum is a comprehensive study of most stories in the Old and New Testaments. Timelines are used to help the children understand where each story fits in Biblical history. Family Bible study at home is also strongly encouraged and is a critical part of the approach of this curriculum.
O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds - Psalm 71:17
Our 3rd-4th grade class continues the curriculum (Our Spiritual Heritage) begun in the previous class. This curriculum is a comprehensive study of most stories in the Old and New Testaments. Timelines are used to help the children understand where each story fits in Biblical history. Family Bible study at home is also strongly encouraged and is a critical part of the approach of this curriculum.
As the children in this class are growing in maturity, they are given opportunity to explore more fully the truths revealed in the stories and applications that can be made. The lessons are taught in an engaging way to help the children grasp the concepts and remember the key elements of each study and how they fit into God's overall plan.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. - Psalm 119:9
The 5th-6th grade class helps our young people dig a little deeper into God's word. Bible lessons are presented with increasing emphasis on personal application. A great deal of effort is made to make sure the children know and remember the Biblical stories and how they are relevant in our lives.
Through creative activities that encourage participation from all students, the stories and lessons are imprinted on the minds of the children. Emphasis is also put on developing the relationships between the students so they can learn to support one another as they begin the face increasing temptations that come with growing up.
This class is currently studying a combination of a series named "Our Spiritual Heritage" by Phil Robertson and "The Living Way". It is a detailed two study of the New Testament, with one quarter of a brief overview of the whole Bible.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; - Psalm 32:8
Our Jr. High class (7th-8th grade) begins to introduce our Jr. High student to the more mature Bible study settings that they will experience as they grow older. The Jr. High age is the beginning of a time of transition from childhood to adulthood. This class takes our young people through more in-depth Bible studies and discusses more mature spiritual topics. Effort is made to make the class enjoyable and interactive, but with different methods than would be used with the younger children.
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, "I have no pleasure in them" - Ecclesiastes 12:1
The High School class is designed to help the students develop a real love for God and respect for His word. The students are developing the ability to have a more mature understanding of God's word and plan. Biblical topics are covered in more detail and students are encouraged to apply what has been learned.
On Sundays mornings the students are studying a book named "The Pentateuch" by Anne Underwood. On Wednesday evenings, the class finishes up the lesson that was begun on Sunday morning.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, a Bible study is held in the auditorium for adults. Various men from the congregation teach a quarter at a time on subjects that they feel are helpful or needful for the church. These studies are Bible-based lessons, where God's word is examined. Respect for God's word and His authority is emphasized in our studies. This is a time for serious reflection on the truth revealed in God's word, and the adults engaged in this study benefit from a deeper understanding of God's will.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. - Psalm 119:105
Each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, a Bible study is also held for adults in class room in the back of the building. Various men from the congregation teach a quarter at a time on subjects that they feel are helpful or needful for the church. Because the classroom is smaller, the class tends toward more interactive and informal discussions.
